With upcoming net exam of UGC, the 5 major things I avoided to prepare for net jrf and qualified it. I did not qualify NTA UGC Net/JRF in my first attempt as I learned several things from it. Here is the major tips for you to avoid and prepare earlier for the failures i faced so that you would be careful of not repeating them.
Tip 1: While preparation for UGC NET/JRF, I failed to solve many questions of first paper as my timing strategy was not quite matched the questions asked in paper. I admit it was tough.
Also, what I did wrong was underestimating my subject and have not made any strategies on how to proceed with different sets of questions. I did some blunders as well due to not reading the questions properly, which seemed simple but tricky.
Tip 2: I understood, timing is everything, which I have not gave much importance to. So , Now I focused myself to divide time between my strong and weak topics according to the time I took to solve them.
After my first time giving the exam, I again divided my strong and weak subjects and how much time I allocate in solving the questions related to them.

Tip 3: Making a relation to the answers while attempting a question, well, yes, everyone does it and answers on probability. But, this made me to do promising questions wrong. So be careful about the questions you think you understood. Read them again especially comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Teaching Aptitude and Data Interpretation.

Tip 4: Do not drink water during exam or get distracted. Keep yourself focused on the questions. These 3 hours (as per new online mode exam by NTA NET) will not return once you have given your exam.
Major TIP:
This tip I started working on daily basis which is increasing my thinking ability by regularly solving riddles, puzzles and my favorite Sudoku which you can easily get to solve through various websites without any fee.
Tip 5: Applying for next exam which was scheduled in June 2019, I focus myself towards my strong topics and paper which was Paper 1. I knew this is going to be a scoring paper, and with more concentration on my weak subjects I can score more. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) the responsibility of administering the UGC-NET test, which is intended to ascertain an Indian national’s eligibility for the positions of “Assistant Professor” and “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” in Indian universities and colleges.
Beginning in December 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the UGC-NET using computer-based testing (CBT).
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and/or assistant professorship eligibility are contingent on the candidate’s overall performance in UGC-NET Papers I and II. Candidates who merely meet the requirements for an assistant professorship are not eligible to be considered for a JRF.
The policies and procedures of the relevant universities, colleges, or state governments, as it relates to the hiring of assistant professors, apply to candidates who pass the eligibility exam for the position. Every year, UGC-NET is held twice (in June and December). With UGC’s approval, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is holding the UGC NET June 2024 in 83 topics at chosen cities throughout the nation in an effort to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycle.
New added topics of paper 1 are Indian Logic, Online methods of learning and teaching (SWAYAM, MOOCS etc).
