- IATA: The International Air Transport Association is a trade association of the world’s airlines. Consisting of 330 airlines, primarily major carriers, representing 120 countries. It is founded in 1945 and it is headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
- ICAO: The International Civil Aviation Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and
fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth. Its head quarter is in Montreal, Canada. It is formed in 1947 and headed by Fang Liu.
- UFTAA: The United Federation of Travel Agents ‘Associations (UFTAA) was formed on November 22nd 1966 in Rome. Two other organizations with close relationship are the
International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA) and the International Road Union (IRU).
- ASTA: American Society of Travel Advisors is the world’s largest association of travel
professionals. They are the leading advocate for travel advisors, the travel industry and the traveling public. It is founded in 1931, headquarters in New York.
- TIGA: In 2010, PATA launched the Travel Intelligence Graphic Architecture (TIGA) initiative to enable better decision making by tourism professionals.
- PATA: The Pacific Asia Travel Association is a membership association working to promote the responsible development of travel and tourism in the Asia Pacific region. It is founded in 1951 and headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.
- WTTC: The World Travel & Tourism Council is a forum for the travel and tourism industry. It is made up of members from the global business community and works with governments to raise awareness about the travel and tourism industry. It is formed in 1990, headquarters in London and headed by Gloria Guevara

- ITDC: The Indian Tourism Development Corporation is a hospitality, retail and education company owned by Government of India, under Ministry of Tourism. Established in 1966. The Corporation is running hotels, restaurants at various places for tourists, besides providing transport facilities. In addition, the Corporation is engaged in production, distribution and sale of tourist publicity literature and providing entertainment and duty free shopping facilities to the tourists. The Corporation has diversified into new avenues/innovative services like Full-Fledged Money Changer (FFMC) services, engineering related consultancy services etc. The Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management of the Corporation imparts training and education in the field of tourism and hospitality.
- ICPB: India Convention Promotion Bureau is the only travel industry body with participation from the entire MICE industry, members form govt and travel industry.
- AAI: The Airport Authority of India or AAI is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining
and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India. It is formed in 1995, New Delhi.
- ASI: The Archaeological Survey of India is an Indian government agency attached to the
Ministry of Culture that is responsible for archaeological research and the conservation and preservation of cultural monuments in the country. It was founded in 1861.
- IIPT: The International Institute For Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) was founded in 1986,
the UN International Year of Peace, with a view towards a travel and tourism industry response to the peaking of terrorism in 1985/’86 (much of it aimed at the travel industry); the growing tensions of East and West (in the early ’80’s); a deteriorating environment; and the growing gap of have and have not regions of the world.
- Indian Railways (IRCTC): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is India’s national railway system operated by the Ministry of Railways. It is founded in 1999. In 2019, it was listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange with the Government holding a 67% ownership. As of December 2023, there are 66 million registered users with IRCTC with a daily average of 7.31 lakh tickets booked.
